Jason Spencer Happisburgh Norfolk

For someone who is city-based but acquired a family plot of land containing a run-down shack in a remote area of Norfolk the chance to rebuild in a contemporary style to make a prime-location holiday cottage was a serious prospect.

After a lengthy planning process, for which this client took on the whole task himself, Timber Innovations were selected as timberframe provider – due to our helpful and co-operative way of working.

The cottage required feature oak for exposed roof structure plus porch, but was otherwise a compact vaulted-ceiling one-bedroom cosy dwelling.

This client chose KingspanTEK as the build method as this provided great thermal performance combined with air-tightness – clearly advantageous in the coastal environment of this plot.

Not only did the client deal with all pre-site issue himself, he also undertook the project management of the whole build – with regular liaison with Timber Innovations for the superstructure elements.

The cottage is now habitable and used as a peaceful escape from city life. Such is its prime location that the client has it featured on Coastal Cottages of Norfolk websites for hire – when its not in demand for his own family of course.
